It was just a cool typewriter.
A cafe that has since closed down. Two years ago, I think. The typewriter in the window had been turned into a lamp.
I saw it from the street, through the glass, and took a few frames because it looked good. Cloudy grey day. Nothing dramatic about the light.
It was later, looking at the photos properly, that I noticed the I sitting next to the U, and both of them inside the word YOU.
You and I. Closer than we think. People and life being more alike than different.
None of that was on purpose. I just liked the typewriter.
Accidental meaning, and accidental depth.

Framing it with a border? Buy the frame one size up from the print and use a card mount. A 16x20 print sits well in an 18x24 frame.
Sizes shown to scale against a wall. Measure the space before you choose, and remember a mount and frame will add to the finished dimensions.

Before you buy.
01Which size should I choose?
Measure the wall first. As a rough guide, the smallest size suits shelves, alcoves and smaller wall spaces, the middle sizes work above a desk, a console table, a sofa or a bed, and the largest is a statement piece for a big wall. Every size is listed above in inches and centimetres.
02Does it come with a frame?
No. You receive the print on its own, unframed. Every frame you see in the photographs on this page belongs to the room it was shot in, and is there to show scale. If you want a white border around the print, order your frame one size up and use a card mount.
03What is it printed on?
Premium Luster semi gloss paper, printed with premium inks. Semi gloss holds fine detail without the glare you get from a full gloss finish, which matters when the print is behind glass.
04Do you ship worldwide?
Yes, with free delivery on every order, wherever you are. Prints are produced at the facility closest to your address where possible, so the parcel travels a shorter distance.
05How long will it take to arrive?
Every print is made after you order it, so it takes longer than something sitting in a warehouse. Production starts as soon as your order comes through, and delivery time depends on where you are in the world.
06What if it arrives damaged?
Prints are packed in protective kraft packaging to survive the journey. If yours turns up damaged, email me a photo as soon as you can at contact@mitchellucas.com and I will take a look.
07Is this a limited edition?
No. This is an open edition, printed individually whenever someone orders one. Nothing is numbered. If you are interested in limited editions, sign up to my mailing list for the next drop.
08What is the photograph of?
